Roadie Gran rocks with Rose at Cracker Barrel!

25 Sep

Melanie let me have a cuddle with baby ROSE! Too hot to play checkers outside. There is a joke somewhere about "draughts" being welcomed to cool us.

You know you’re in the south when the temperature is so jolly high, the steering wheel is too hot to touch and you have breakfast at Cracker Barrel!!

Jason, the Pastor of the Calvary Chapel here and his family took us here this morning. I love this place.

I had eggs over ease, grits, biscuits and gravy, sourdough toast and jelly/jam…. Also had a rock with Rose on the porch in a rocker. TT enjoyed his breakfast, without the grits and gravy. It was, a sort of,  “last supper” as he has put himself on a diet to lose a little weight. He has only had salad, porridge and fruit since. What a hero! This was my breakfast, with biscuits, grits and gravy.

He did 2 performances today at Heritage Academy, the school where the church meets. It was part of the Augusta Arts weekend festival.  This school was started by a benefactor to provide good affordable education for the children of less affluent families. They provide scholarships and meet in a gorgeous building on a lovely street that reminds me of  “Gone with The Wind”.

TOmorrow he will do “Prisoner of Passion” in their morning service. We are staying in this hotel tomorrow night, which will be nice. So we don’t have to pack up and move until Monday lunch time when we retrace our steps to Virginia for a Tuesday “gig”.

Not sure whether it was the breakfast or the heat. (The latter I think), but I felt so tired this afternoon that I stayed in tonight and TT was his own Roadie. Poor man. Sorry darling one.

While he was doing his second show of the day I dozed at the hotel with the air conditioning full on. I was delighted to find lots of British TV programmes on the Public TV channel. I watched snippets of  “Last of the Summer Wine”, Mr Brett as Sherlock Holmes and Lark Rise to Candleford. Deep joy!

Puncture, Performance,Pat’s log house

It’s been an eventful full day. Drove about 6 hrs from Maine to Fitchburg Mass. Fantastic coastal run with lovely towns and views of the Atlantic. We had just turned into the town of Fitchburg, when we had a puncture. AAA came within the hour as did Pastors George and Eric from Calvary Chapel Fitchburg. Thankfully we had the puncture within 1 mile of our destination having traveled 300miles. What a blessing!

Great performance by TT tonight again. Now staying with our new friend Pat in her lovely log cabin in the woods in Westminster MA. She has made us chocolate chilli.  Not sure it has choc in it but it is veggie along with organic salad from her garden.

Coughed a lot again today and felt a bit rough when we got to the church. Had some honey and lemon and ibuprofen and fell asleep on the sofa in the “green room” while TT was doing his stuff on the stage.  Feel much better now although still not right. The lovely lady we are staying with is a retired physician and has a garden full of medicinal herbs. There are also chickens and baby ones outside our bedroom window in a warm room.

Off to bed now

Love hugs and prayers

TT and Rodie Gran.

Quick update tonight as TT and I are a bit pooped! Our lovely host family, Pastor Will, wife, 3 daughters and a son in law spent took care of us today. We started with breakfast in Ellsworth town centre the went to Acadia National Park. BEAUTIFUL! TT did some videoing from the top of Cadillac mountain. If we had been there at sunrise we could have been one of the first people in the USA to see the sun rise. It is the highest and most Easterly point. By the time we got there the sun had been up some time. I paddled in the Atlantic atSand  Beach and got my trousers wet as a wave or two caught me off guard.  Great fun. Visited Thunder hole but as the ocean was fairly calm there was not much thundering going on. Lunch back at Lorrie and Will’s lovely home with their family. Pulled pork, mac and cheese assorted salads followed my home made apple pie. YUMMY! Back to the hotel for a quick rest then TT did a great performance of “An Evening with C.S. Lewis” in the lovely Grand Theatre with a 2/3 full house.  Night night now. We are off to somewhere tomorrow about 5 hrs away, where TT is performing in the evening.

Hugs and sploggy xxx to one and all.

Ouch! Just pinched myself to see if I am dreaming.

Well the first “1st” is that a little airplane is flying over the beach at Ocean City by the boardwalk. It is trailing a banner that is advertising The Talent’s play tonight. “See An Evening with C.S. Lewis at the Ocean Tabernacle. Tonight at 7:00pm” it says. Whatever would his mum and dad have thought?

The second “1st” is that we have just been chatting with Dr Brown, the chaplain of the US senate who was the speaker at the services this morning! David did a little 3 min spot in both services and now his down on the board walk people and beach watching. It is wonderful here. I am having a lay down in prep for this evening. My tonsilitis  is better, but I’m still coughing. Poor David. I think I am keeping him awake. Dr Brown and his wife say they want to come and see the show tonight but we will see. Keep thinking of the only other US Chaplain I know off,  Peter Marshall who is one of my heroes along with his wife Catharine.….

We are staying in this wonderful B&B. The Scarborough Inn in Ocean City. We are on the 3rd floor and see the ocean out of the window! We have just had lunch with some dear friends, the Durkovics who only live 2 hrs away. Last night we went to supper with the Pastor and his wife from Ocean Tab at an amazing fish restaurant on the bay. I had gorgeous scallops. This is a fantastic place. Weather perfect.  I am on the “merch” table. TT is people and beach watching down on the Broadwalk.

Please pray for my cough. Sore throat better, but I am hacking a lot and keeping TT awake. He may fire me!!

As you can tell, life is v. interesting. Pictures soon!
